Speaking at 'Live Above the Influence' Youth Conference
I was honored to speak at the Permian Basin Regional Council On Alcohol And Drug Abuse to discuss how to "Live Above the Influence." This free event was on August 1st, held at the MLK Community Center in Midland. Along with the conference, my goal was to encourage parents to talk to their teens about underage drinking, drugging, and drunk-driving. While I was there, I reported and gathered necessary information our community and parents should know.
According to the DEA, Xanax is the primary drug of choice among students of all ages in the Permian Basin. Kids as young at 11-years-old are abusing Xanax, said Heather McMurry, DEA Diversion Program Manager.
