Amanda Moe (formerly Mason) is an award-winning journalist, national speaker and the Communications & Public Affairs Manager and Public Information Officer (PIO) at the Benton-Franklin Health District (BFHD) in Kennewick, Washington. She married Kevin Moe in the fall of 2024, and together they’ve planted deep roots in the Tri-Cities—where they are now joyfully expecting their first child in 2025.
A self-starter and seasoned communications strategist, Amanda leads internal and external communications, media relations and crisis response for more than 60 public health programs. She was instrumental in launching BFHD’s first independent communications department and is known blending her media expertise, leadership and heart to strengthen community trust and deliver impactful, authentic messaging.
Prior to joining BFHD, Amanda worked in broadcast journalism for major affiliates across four states, including serving as the morning anchor for KAPP-KVEW (ABC - Apple Valley News). She has reported on high-profile events such as the Odessa mass shooting, a presidential visit to Texas, and Puerto Rico’s recovery after Hurricane Maria. Her journalism earned her the Rocky Mountain Emmy Student Production Award, the Community Advocate Award from United Way of Midland and the Key to Kenner, Louisiana for her recovery efforts following Hurricane Katrina in 2006.
Amanda holds a Master’s in Mass Communication from Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School (magna cum laude) and a Master’s in Music from the renowned conservatory Manhattan School of Music. Before her journalism career, she performed professionally as a classical singer and musical theater artist at venues including Carnegie Hall, the United Nations, throughout Italy (including Verona and Montepulciano) and in Off-Broadway productions across NYC and Las Vegas.
With more 20 years of public speaking experience, Amanda has delivered keynote addresses at national conferences, including the National Foundation for Women Legislators Annual Conferences. As Miss New York 2013, she served as a National Spokesperson for the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD) and co-chaired national literacy and prevention campaigns. She has also appeared on NBC’s The Today Show, Fox & Friends, PBS, and dozens of TV and radio stations nationwide.
Amanda is an active member of the Tri-Cities Regional Chamber of Commerce and was honored to be a speaker for the 2023 Women In Business Conference. She is also a proud volunteer with the Miss Tri-Cities Scholarship Program, continuing her commitment to empowering young women, supporting community leadership and promoting lifelong education and service.
